NO Software Patents

Yesterday a demonstration against Software Patents took place in Karlsruhe, Germany. The LinuxTag 2004 happens to be there right now, so the FFII organized the demonstration there. Please take a look at the FFII homepage and help us to stop Software Patents in the EU.
Pictures from the demo might follow, when I get cthumb fixed...

120seconds.com Digital Fim Festival

Just stumbled over 120seconds.com Digital Fim Festival. It's a flash website, but with contend. You can watch all films via stream (modem and broadband) and some are very interesting though.
Oh, btw, the festival took place May 24 - June 7, 2002.

Hacking BSD

BSD News: "[O'Reilly]Editor's note: Last week's excerpts from O'Reilly's BSD Hacks offered a few administrator tricks -- finding files easily and managing disk space without reinstalling. This week's excerpt provides administrators and users alike with a hack on how to get the most out of FTP using macros and scripts."

Star Trek: New Voyages

Take a look at the website of the Five Year Mission. You can download the first episode and get back to the 23rd century. A great project.

Am I the last one

who has seen the last two parts of the Matrix trilogy? Or have all those people who told me about it, never really have seen them?
Just wondering. I was told that the second one (Reloaded) was awful and the third one (Revolutions) was so much better than that...
...did I watch those in the wrong order...

windowmanager decisions

After using ratpoison for like a week, I just switched back to openbox. Navigating everything by keyboard is really what I want, but I don't want every window maximized by default or hack a lot of frames to put a smaller window into those.
Though I expanded my keybinding configurations for openbox...

To The 5 Boroughs

Check your head! A new Beastie Boys album hit your local record dealers. 6 years after "Hello Nasty" the three Beastie Boys come back with fresh beats and tunes. So go to your record dealer and get the album. Or order it here.

It's Sunday - I am bored

After signing up at Everything2 I already wrote three nodes. The first one was a bit too short and got already deleted. So what. The next one seem to please the community much more.

Friday night I stumbled over a cute window manager named ratpoison. It's more a screen for X windows than a window manager, but it's nice, cause you can do everything by keybindings and don't need a mouse.

Problem is that applications like the Gimp are maximized in ratpoison and are not that useable anymore.

Everything2

Yesterday I stumbled over an interesting link to Everything at /. while I was bored by a lecture about trojan horses and backdoors on computers.
I don't know why I haven't seen that link before, but I was impressed. It's a bit like Wikipedia but seems to be more fun to be around. So I registered and maybe I will try to add info in the future.
