Size does matter

Yeah, right, every woman will tell you that it doesn't, because they know you want to here that. But they make fun of your small and tiny URLs when you don't hear it.
Use HugeURL.com to increase your your small or average-sized URL length by at least 200%!
...And the girls will love it!!!

Star Wars Trailer News

Cinescape is reporting today that the first trailer for STAR WARS, EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH will debut in theaters on November 5th in front of prints for THE INCREDIBLES. But considering the length of the movie and how many other trailers are vying for time in front of the film, it's not guaranteed the ROTS trailer will run before all showings of THE INCREDIBLES.

Blog looks awful in IE

Today I recognized, that this page obviously doesn't look that well in Internet Explorer. It wasn't my PC, so I have no idea what version of IE it was. I think it was some kind of XP running.
Seems that the banner on top of this site won't be loaded. Maybe it is too large or there is something wrong with the stylesheet. I just tested it with Safari, Firefox and Mozilla, and it looked like it should. Even if the blue of her eyes are a bit to bright in Firefox.
But nobody told me about the problems with IE. That's why I guess that
a) there are no IE Users around anymore or
b) there is a way to solve the problem and I just forgot to add a little hook somewhere or
c) nobody has noticed that the banner is missing.

Interview with Ron Gilbert

Do you know Ron Gilbert? Monkey Island? - Okay. So, here is an interview with that guy, that left LucasArts while production on Monkey Island 2, to make learning-games for little children and ruined our lives. We, that will be me and a friend of mine, who were Ron Gilbert Fans. There were more LucasArts games we enjoyed later, but we both were sure, that the MI series would have been much better, if Ron hadn't left the company.
So, here is the first part of the desired interview. Second part will be available there on wednesday.

Big Brother Truman Show

The german news site Spiegel Online reported that the german version of Big Brother is building a own city for the Big Brother candidates. There will be stores and schools, where they can get a new graduation and live for the next years. They'd like to have families there and take people who are unemployed in the real world.

Okay, now it's getting ticklish. Get the graduation done and move to any other country.

Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) on sale now for $11.95

"Some guy on Amazon is selling Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) for $11.95, and says he'll ship it in 1-2 business days. Too bad Apple isn't releasing Tiger until mid-2005."
Take a look at Amazon or at the shot at boingboing, if Amazon has dropped the article meanwhile.

EuroBSDCon 2004

From 29th till 31st of October there will be the second EuroBSDCon, this time it will be held in the Queens Hotel in Karlsruhe, Germany.
The Tutorials are held at 29. october, the conference is on 30. and 31. october. The 25 talks during the conference will be organized in two tracks.
You have to register for the Con to visit it. Beeing in Karlsruhe right now I really would like to go there, but the prices are kinda expensive. Paying 215.00 EUR as a student is more money than I want to spent for one weekend, even if it is interesting and fun.
Registration closing date is the 22nd of October.

BSDvault will be closing down

BSDvault will be closing down soon. They don't see the need for the site any longer. The project was formed 4 years ago, when information and help was not that easy to find. Right now there are not enough people helping administer the site and documentation.
The material hosted on BSDvault will be available on a seperate domain to be listed on a later date. If you are interested to keep the site up send feedback to them.

Introduction to CVS

Never read Linux Gazette before, but today I found a link at Root Prompt to an introduction to CVS. It's a bit short and not that much in detail, but it is, like the title says, just an introduction.
But Linux Gazette seems to be more for the beginners with Linux. Taking a look at some other topics, there is lot of info about stuff I already done years ago or problems I don't have anymore, because I am not switching from Windows right now or still want to use both operating systems.

"Revenge of the Sith" Goodies

More new goodies of "Revenge of the Sith" are available at R2D2 Menace. It's lots of artwork and pictures. And because some of you may want to think about taking a look at it because of the possible spoilage, I won't post anything here but tell you to look here, here and here.
And there are lots of screenshots available, too.

New Ring2 Teaser Trailer

I went to "The Ring" without knowing what it is all about and I really was fascinated. Many people hated that movie and told me that the original movies were the only good ones. Uhm, okay, I watched them and they were good, too. But it's always the same problem, when you see the wrong one first and like it already. You can't change your opinion about it that easy.
That's why I am waiting for "The Ring twO" and knowing that Hideo Nakata (the original RINGU director) was behind this film made it that much more exciting.
The trailer has been premiered last night on E! News Daily and is online now at the movie's official site.

Dynamite Clock - Expensive Gadget

They have a beautiful dynamite clock at SpyMall. They gurantee this to be the most realistic and unique bomb clock that you will ever see. But it's kinda expensive with $125. And won't be shipped outside of the US. So what?

Episode III Trailer Description

They have the description. Like they had those for Episode I and II, the Force.net has the description for the upcoming trailer online.
They have a spoiler warning, so I won't write anything about the contents of the trailer here. If you are interested in it, then read the description yourself.

Torture your Sims

Through Boing Boing I found an article at LiveJournal where a girl tortures her Sims by trapping them in small room.
The idea isn't that new - I did that myself in the first release of the Sims, but it seems there are some new Gimmicks and Bugs in the second one.
If you have Sims2 and are bored enough... kill them fancy.

Episode III Teaser Poster?

Harry from Ain't It Cool News got a picture mailed that probably might be the Episode III Teaser Poster. It seems to follow the thematics of the Prequel Teaser Poster campaign, where you can see the shadow of Darth Vader behind Anakin on the Tatooine wall.

Last note was, that it is not the poster, if understood that correctly. But it really looks a bit cheap for beeing official.

Update: Okay, just read it at JoBlo.com: the Poster is a fake by this guy. But a nice idea.

More Indiana Jones News

Just a few hours ago, I discussed with nforcer if Harrison Ford will be casted as Indiana Jones in the fourth part again and now The Indy Experience gave us a hint: it points me at an report at Female First that says Harrison Ford has been given strict instructions by Steven Spielberg not to go crazy exercising for Indiana Jones 4.

"Steven doesn't want a middle-aged guy trying to look young - he wants to bring a new type of hero to the screen.  He's going to be older and wiser and a lot less physical than Indy of old."

Indy needs no exercising

iPod users are music thieves says Ballmer

Steve Ballmer said in an exclusive interview that "most common format of music on an iPod is 'stolen'."

"Part of the reason people steal music is money, but some of it is that the DRM stuff out there has not been that easy to use. We are going to continue to improve our DRM, to make it harder to crack, and easier, easier, easier, easier, to use," he said.

"Go away Ballmer!", is what I say. I don't trust in your inventions.

As I read at The Indy Experience Steven Spielberg plans shooting Indy 4 at the beginning of 2005. He said that in an interview on the French TV channel Canal +. George Lucas has expressed hopes to begin production on Indiana Jones 4 next year and now Steven Spielberg has also expressed the same desire.

Sam and Max are not dead

Okay, Sam and Max haven't been that fascinating like The Secret of Monkey Island, but it was one of the great adventures LucasArts made. While LucasArts now only produce Star Wars games and forget the adventure-fans the guys who were working on a new Sam and Max game have formed a new studio called Telltale Games. Now we just have to wait and hope, that there will be a good adventure to play in the future.

RootPrompt.org brought me to a Mac vs. PC contest. They tested a Dual 3GHz Xeon and Dual 2.5GHz Opteron during the next weeks and added the G5/2.5GHz MP Power Mac to the numbers they already had. And the G5 really is the "World's Fastest Personal Computer" in their categories right now.

Ozone Hole Getting Smaller

Read at /. :"According to Reuters and some other sources the hole in the ozone layer shrank 20% this year to a mere 9 million square miles. Of course scientists caution this would have to continue for at least a couple more years to be a trend or anything to get excited about."

Kevin gets his hands on Star Wars?

And more news on Star Wars again. (You must be thinking I am not interested in anything else anymore.) As I read on joblo.com there is an interview with USA Today where George Lucas mentioned the possibility of moving the franchise into tv territory, stating "ultimately, I'm going to probably move it into television and let other people take it…" The folks over at Inland Empire Strikes Back did some scooping and found out that Lucas may be thinking about handing over creative control of a possible tv series to Kevin Smith.

The true story of Star Wars

After I watched Star Wars: A new Hope on DVD tonight I recognized that Carrie Fisher really is amazing. So I looked for her data at imdb.com then and found an entry for a movie wich is in production right now and will be released in 2005: 5-25-77. Entitled as the date "A new Hope" came to a theatre near you - more than 25 years ago. Presented by the producer of Star Wars: Gary Kurtz - can't remember how often I read his name on my Star Wars movie posters.
So, just take a look at the treaser or take a look at the moonwatcher site for some screen captures.

Are you a Johnny Depp Fan?

If you are, you should go to the very first DEPPCON n the weekend of October 22-24 at the West Hollywood Hyatt in Los Angeles, California. A special convention dedicated to Johnny Depp. Johnny won't be able to be there himself, because he is shooting Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory right now. But there will happen lots of other stuff, e.g. there will be a special screening of Ed Wood, as presented by the screenwriters of that film, Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander.
