Too Cool for Internet Explorer

More del.icio.us

While waiting for the compilation runs for the subversion installation I found a nice Firefox extension named foxylicious. With this extension you can import your del.icio.us bookmarks into Firefox. You are also able to import them into a subfolder, so you can keep your old bookmarks there, too.

del.icio.us bookmarks

Maybe you all have already heard about del.icio.us yet, but I stumbled yesterday about it. del.icio.us is some kind of online bookmark list. So all your bookmarks are available everywhere you can be online. And you have that tagging feature like in flickr. You can then search for something you can hardly remember so much easier. You just look for it by a tag in your list.
Just one problem: it looks awful. But Jon Hicks did some work on redesigning the site with Safari and same did Jeff Bostick for Firefox. Now it is a bit too small but it really looks better. Maybe when I am really bored, I will try to change some sizes in those stylesheets.

Find flickr Users on a map

And again some more flickr news: if you like to find people from your country at flickr, you can take a look at the flickr world map. It really looks great, but you have to zoom in for a while to get a detailed view of Germany for example. And the locations of the cities aren't exactly where they should be, but that's not too bad.
There is another project out there called mappr. But that is for U.S. only.

flickrGraph

Everybody is fascinated by that application. It is cool, of course, even if nobody really needs stuff like that. But I like flickr and hope to make more contats there.

ecto 2.2.3

Normaly I write my blog at the blogger homepage. But while I read that there is a new version of ecto available, I thought, why don't give that tool a chance and try to write a few entries with it. I hope, that I will be able to blog some more in the future again, when I have the possibility to write offline and upload them later.

GMail Accounts for free

Okay, maybe you have heard somewhere else that probably all Gmail users now have 50 invitations to give away. If you had no chance to get invited by somebody else already, drop me a line with your email address and I will invite you.
You don't have to give me any reason or answer a tricky question.

No PowerBook anymore...

I got an iBook. Most of you might have known, that I had a very nice G3 PowerBook (Pismo) from my office. While the display got worse, my boss went to our local hardware dealer to get me a nice brand new iBook. We usually buy only PowerBooks, but since we had lots of trouble with those in the last months, he might not have seen any reason to stick with those.
Now I have 1,2 GHz and 1,25 GB of RAM - so it should be twice as fast as my old PowerBook. The display is only 12" large, but while my boss got me a 17" TFT, too, there is nothing to worry about. And I don't think that it is too small to use it without an external display. It's fine and it is smaller and not so heavy.
I got the iBook last week, but I wanted to take a picture of it first. I haven't done that yet, so I post this news now, as long as this is still news. Most should know what an iBook looks like.
